Hiring Unit: Student Accessibility & Achievement

The Student Accessibility & Achievement provides support services and reasonable accommodations to McGill students of all levels of study with documented disabilities of either a permanent, temporary, or episodic nature. ​They foster an accessible and inclusive university experience for McGill’s diverse student population in collaboration with other Student Services and the wider McGill community through resources and services. 

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, performs duties related to admissions and registration, and student accounts. Provides information and explanations concerning programs, policies and procedures. Processes admission applications, registrations, transcript requests and activities related to student account fee payments. Maintains files and records and resolves related problems.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

·Maintains, updates records and files. Sorts, codes, enters and verifies information. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of information. Investigates and follows up on discrepancies. Consults appropriate documentation or resource persons in order to obtain and provide information. Resolves problems. Refers complex problems to resource persons.

·Initiates others in unit activities. Follows up as appropriate.

·Prepares documents such as lists and reports.

·Maintains inventory of materials and supplies for unit.

·Uses standard office equipment such as computer and photocopier.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

Possess an understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of students with disabilities; demonstrated ability to prioritize; ability to work independently while taking some direction. High level of emotional intelligence and well developed interpersonal skill with a proven ability to deal with confidential and/or sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy. Must be customer focused and service oriented, assisting all clients with tact and diplomacy while maintaining a professional manner and appearance at all times. Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to clearly receive, retain and transmit information with a proven ability to communicate clearly, efficiently, effectively and respectfully with diverse stakeholders. Must be accurate and possess superior attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to provide support for various administrative activities. Proven ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team. Excellent problem solving skills, demonstrated ability to assess and appropriate react in stressful situations. Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Proven discretion in dealing with confidential information. Demonstrated ease with technological applications with a proven ability to work in a PC environment using, MS Word, MS Bookings, Sling, Excel and Outlook, Banner (BSA, SIS) and Minerva SR Admin. English, excellent spoken and written skills required. French, spoken and read. 

Additional Information:  Vacation restrictions apply during peak periods. This position is fully-supported by soft funds (government grant).
