The Opportunity


We’re looking for a Human Resources Business Partner to join our People and Culture team.

Reporting to the Vice president, People and Culture, the Human Resources Business Partner will focus on business enablement using a collaborative approach with business leaders. As the HR Business Partner, you will utilize your solid understanding of the business to resolve business issues and develop solutions that drive business outcomes.

What your day looks like:

Use sound judgment supported by human resource acumen and practical experience to assess short and long-term business needs of the client group and provide both operational and generalist HR leadership and support to the business Collaborate and work proactively with business leaders to identify key issues impacting operational goals, and offer solutions that align with Aviso’s strategic objectives Cultivate leadership capability across Aviso to ensure increased organizational effectiveness Serve as a coach and confidante to leaders around people and organizational issues, leadership development, and act as an advocate for colleagues Collaborate with Aviso’s Talent and Total Rewards team on new initiatives, and leverage team expertise in developing, delivering and implementing initiatives to the client group; such as; job profiles and career paths; compensation plans to meet and compete against market standards; annual performance management and salary review processes Support the assigned business groups in staff planning activities, including interviewing for open positions Participating in communicating, facilitating, and/or presenting HR programs and roll-outs at the business unit and departmental level Actively participate in HR project work, such as implementing new human resources strategies for specific divisions or the organization as a whole Act as an Aviso brand ambassador both internally and externally, supporting Aviso’s Mission, Vision and Values as well as the company’s strategic objectives Operate as a key enabler to the business as it drives engagement by counseling, guiding, facilitating, and allowing the business to own employee engagement and the sustainment of culture


Your experience and skills:

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related field Minimum 4 years of experience working in progressive HR roles, in a complex environment CHRP designation an asset Proven ability to build strong relationships, including interfacing and communicating effectively with employees at all levels across the organization Strong ability to coach, facilitate, influence and negotiate in order to reach consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes Highly flexible, good tolerance for ambiguity and time-driven deadlines and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities Proficient ability to plan, organize, prioritize time and workload to deliver on goals, deadlines and transactional tasks. Passionate about meeting or exceeding performance goals and expectations Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) coupled with strong interpersonal skills both in one-on-one and in group settings Broad perspective on general business, with a working understanding of financial matters Excellent judgment, critical thinking and evaluation, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential Proven ability to analyze problems, identify key information and issues, interpret data and determine implications, provide recommendations and effectively resolve Team orientated – ‘one-team’ behavior is a must Comprehensive knowledge of employment related laws, standards and regulations Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset
