Department Overview

The CBCT (Canadian Banking and Corporate Technology) Basel Reporting team supports the Bank regulatory capital reporting to the Canadian regulator, OSFI under Basel III rules. This includes Basel Capital Adequacy Requirements (BCAR) Reports, Pillar III public disclosure and New Credit Risk (NCR) and Economic Capital (eCap) for NCR.

The team delivers projects and provides support for all segments involved in Basel III Reporting, including Chief Accountant’s Department, TD Commercial Bank, TD Securities Wholesale Bank, TDCT Retail Bank, TD US Personal and Commercial Bank, TD Waterhouse Canada and UK.

The successful candidate will report to the Manager Business Systems Analysis for the Basel Reporting team. S/he will be responsible for providing delivery of solutions to our business partners, support of the Basel Reporting Applications – RWA/CAR, NCR, and Pillar 3 as well as guidance and support on various Basel Reporting initiatives.

Job Description

Define Technology Solutions and Service Clients
  • As a Senior Business Systems Analyst, you will work within a technology team to perform a liaison function between the business side of the enterprise and the technology team. Combining your superior knowledge of Counterpart Credit Risk with your highly developed written and oral communication skills, you will work to understand high level business requirements around Risk Reporting systems and work closely with various Technology groups to create and maintain detailed requirements and specifications documents.
  • This position requires strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills. The chosen candidate must be an individual who is able to work with minimal supervision as well as within a team setting, contribute to a positive work environment, and manage multiple assignments.
  • Work in close partnership with business partners / technology / project teams and stakeholders to assess the needs and understand high-level business requirements
  • Develop effective and efficient solutions by researching/analyzing current state system capabilities and defining technology solutions options / recommendations working closely with key technology partners (e.g. Solution Designers and Architects)
  • Apply technical background/understanding to define, document and translate business requirements into detailed system requirements and technical / functional specifications in alignment with standards and frameworks and considering non-functional requirements.
  • Support testing teams in translating requirements and use cases into test conditions and expected results for product, performance, user acceptance, and operational acceptance testing
  • Support and contribute to project management activities by participating in the scoping and estimating of project efforts, risks identification and mitigation measures recommendation, communicating activity status and providing timely notification and escalation of possible issues/problems to the Project Manager
  • Participate in quality management reviews, in particular review of the designs, prototypes and other requirements work products to ensure they fulfill the requirements
  • Support collaboration with key stakeholders to determine solutions, assess impact to existing work processes and systems, and how to manage the integration
  • Ensure all support and project artifacts adhere to TD standards and audit requirements and are stored as per team standards
  • May provide operational / process related analysis and support to various extents

  • Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies trends/developments and develop expertise in TD services, applications, infrastructure, analytical tools and techniques that can contribute to effective solution development/delivery
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of business domains and their products/services
  • Support the development of business cases including benefits identification, RFI/RFP and service level agreements with vendors/suppliers consistent with technology requirements/guidelines

  • Requirements

    Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL– ability to build complex queries, read and understand code and perform in-depth data analysis using SQL
  • Advanced to Expert knowledge of system analysis process and techniques
  • Advanced to Expert knowledge of systems and applications supported by the team including system components, functionality, interfaces, data flows, and business rules
  • Advanced to Expert knowledge of enterprise technology delivery practices and standards and related expertise including design, development, testing and project management.
  • Advanced understanding of the businesses supported
  • Works independently as the senior or lead system analyst and coaches/ guides members within area of expertise
  • Subject matter expert and consults with clients and/or project teams
  • Relevant work experience in technology with a broad understanding across multiple IT disciplines
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills
  • Proactive team player with effective time management skills; ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines/projects and keep key players informed
  • Ability to perform all aspects of research, analysis and problem-solve issues
  • Ability to act as a subject matter expert for a business application and/or a specific technology
  • Understanding of Financial Products including Loans, OTC Derivatives and other Assets is an asset
  • Canadian Securities Course certification an asset
  • Knowledge of Risk Management and/or Credit Risk and/or Basel II & III an asset
  • Experience working in the Financial industry, risk management, Basel is an asset
  • Experience and knowledge of TD PDLC is an asset
  • Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:

  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • 5- 7 years relevant experience
