Senior Accountant, Family Account Management

The candidate will acquire both customer service experience, solid knowledge of a wide range of financial products as well as administrative skills in order to properly serve the interests of high net worth clients. The candidate must be able to work effectively as part of a team and be commited to providing personalized service to our clients with complex financial situations.

A day in the life of a Senior Accountant

  • Perform all tasks related to financial statements, budgeting and forecasting cashflow.
  • Design appropriate procedures based on customer needs and accounting guidelines.
  • Carry out assignements bu applying professional standards using sound methodologies and techniques.
  • Respond to questions from external and internal clients in a professional and timely manner.
  • Produce monthly report (bank account, operating companies and personal finances).
  • Gain an understanding pro forma information (understand the implication of transactions and their tax implications).
  • Gain an understanding of investments and a general understanding of tax and accounting implications.
  • Identify the consequences of commercial, accounting and tax issues for a company during the preparation of reports and year-end statements.
  • Financial reporting

  • Prepare finacial statements with a notice to readers.
  • Evaluate the accounting methods used by the entity.
  • Determine the ajustments to be made in the financial statements accompanied by a notice to readers and propose accounting entries.
  • Assist in the establishment of accounting records to record complex business transactions arising from postponements liquidations and dissolutions or mergers.
  • Prepare financial statements for all related group companies and ensure intercompany transactions and accounts are properly recorded.
  • Tax

  • Prepare income tax returns for individuals, corporations, trusts and partnerships (T1, T2, T3, T5013).
  • In particular, prepare T5 slips.
  • Asses and prepare foreign property reporting requirements (T1134 and T1135).
  • Evaluate compliance with sales tax (HST, GST, QST) and payroll regulations.
  • Recommend tax strategies taking into account compensation planning, income distribution among family members, CDA balances and safe income.
  • What we are looking for 

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional CPA designation (or in the process of).
  • Experience in an accounting firm, an asset.
  • Bilingual (oral and written).
  • Good knowledge (or interest) in taxation.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent team spirit.
  • Good knowledge of the Ms Office suite.
  • Knowledge of CaseWare/CaseView, Write-Up and Taxprep, an asset
