As the QC Microbiologist, you will perform quality control microbiological testing on in-process samples, final products, environmental monitoring samples and other applicable samples. Perform quality control related documentation, investigation, and other required tasks in compliance with regulatory requirements. Using knowledge and skills to ensure that all assigned tasks are carried out efficiently with diligent attention to quality work. Perform other duties as required to meet company/department goals and in compliance with GMPs. The ideal candidate is energetic, collaborative, and forward- thinking.
This position is based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba
What you’ll be doing:
Perform microbial stability studies on starting materials, intermediates and final products as required.
Perform microbial testing of in-process samples, final products, environmental monitoring samples and other applicable samples, as required.
Prepare and test microbiological media, frozen seed bank cultures, solutions, and reagents.
Perform method development and method validation/suitability studies for microbial testing methods.
Ensure that all samples are tested according to the established procedures and reported in a timely manner to meet production needs, and compendial/regulatory requirements.
Analyzing, validating, improving, and measuring microbiology lab operations and methods to ensure compliance to GMP.
Ensure that applicable equipment and instruments in the microbiology laboratory are qualified, maintained, and calibrated.
Assess pharmacopoeia updates for microbiology testing and initiate corrective measures to comply with same.
Communicate with other individuals, groups, and/or labs for the testing and reporting of related samples.
Prepare documents including Protocols, Reports, SOPs, STMs, OOS Investigation Report, etc., as required.
Participate in problem identification and offer suggestions for solutions and improvements.
Clean and maintain workplace and equipment as per GMP requirements.
Ensure that the Employee Training Forms are maintained and updated as required. Conduct STM training as required.
Must work in compliance with the established company policies of the Health and Safety Act. Must use personal protective equipment and/or clothing to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for self and others.
Knowledge of Biosafety practices and tools in a Containment level 2 laboratory.

Report unsafe acts and conditions; correct unsafe acts and conditions; comply with the standards and regulations of the Health and Safety Act
Review the information on the Health and Safety Act
Maintain an inventory of consumables and order supplies as required.
Ensure that all assigned tasks are carried out effectively and efficiently, in a timely manner, with diligent attention to quality work.
Perform other relevant duties as required.

You’ll need to have:
B.Sc. in Microbiology or the equivalent or Technical Diploma
Minimum 1-year laboratory experience in a pharmaceutical or industry environment
Good planning and organizational skills, and good communication and inter-personal skills
Good understanding and knowledge of microbiologic testing methods, practices and equipment.
Good understanding and knowledge of Regulatory Affairs and GMPs
