As a QA Lead (referenced as a Test Automation Developer internally), you'll develop a culture of quality around you, working closely with an Agile production team and responsible for creating test plans and test strategies to suit the needs of each engagement. You are passionate about testing and love to push the limits of software to ensure customer requirements are met and that products are bug-free. You will report to the Associate Director, Software Development.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and estimate work to be done alongside designers and Product Owner, to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget. Be transparent about progress.
  • Identify test scenarios that are critical and repetitive and automate them, overseeing their execution and maintenance.
  • Work with the team to ensure bugs are triaged and resolved in time, creating a culture of quality in the production teams you are part of
  • Provide test plans that allow clients to conduct UAT
  • Lead the development of the Quality Assurance practice area at Myplanet through process improvements and knowledge sharing
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest tools and technologies and explore non-functional areas such as Performance, Security, and Accessibility testing
  • Skills and Qualifications

  • Understand Computer Science fundamentals and Software Engineering principles
  • 8+ years industry experience in automation and manual testing
  • Expertise in functional, regression, cross-browser/device, exploratory, and REST/SOAP API testing
  • Expertise in working with Selenium WebDriver, Cypress or other test runners
  • Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, SQL, testing frameworks such as TestNG, Mocha, Chai, or Cucumber, and experience with TestRail, QAComplete or similar test management tools is highly desired
  • Is this role a fit for you?

The QA Lead role emphasizes accuracy, collaboration, and attention to detail. You’ll find fulfillment in the role if you:

  • Delight in making things. You thrill at the concept of going beyond the theoretical and applying your ideas, skills, and expertise to products used by people every day.
  • Find passion in new challenges. Every chance to learn and move things forward with your can-do attitude or to share your entrepreneurship excites you.
  • Thoroughly enjoy collaborative work. Knowledge sharing and the chance to be part of a team who co-own the output, instead of a solo hero who lives and dies by their work alone, is important to you.
  • Benefits and Perks

  • Explore ongoing opportunities for professional development: training, conferences, certifications, and in-house peer mentorship
  • Experiment with new techniques, wear multiple hats, and learn about new disciplines.
  • Pursue independent projects, explore new ideas, and challenge yourself in your field with dedicated “Awesome time” (self-directed professional development) annually and quarterly training budgets
  • Enjoy a flexible schedule of full-time hours, health/dental benefits, and private US coverage
  • Our Toronto HQ office is a modern, ergonomic space complete with standing/sitting desks and an open-concept social atmosphere
  • Additional perks are available including in-house mindfulness training, an employee stock option plan, remote group get-togethers, and more!
  • Performance and Growth Expectations

Our environment is not your average, hierarchical software studio: we emphasize accountability for outcomes, but autonomy in activities. Your work will be measured using our 360-degree system (a combination of peer and supervisor feedback) and will also be measured on the basis of client and user satisfaction. Your growth path is in your hands— you’ll have ongoing meetings with a mentor and professional guide to help determine your path, but your progress will be based on what you hope to achieve and how you choose to access the resources available to you.
