CALGARY, OR ANY MAJOR LOCATION IN CANADA
WSP is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Power Canada team, located at our Calgary office, or any major WSP location in Canada. Reporting to the National Electrical Manager, this position will be responsible for performing electrical design, including calculations and preparation of drawings and specifications as well as reports and estimates for renewable energy projects..
Design of electrical works (substation, switching station, and AC/DC collection system) related to renewable energy projects (Solar, Wind, BESS, Hydro);
Assist project managers in the planning, control, and technical coordination of projects;
Liaise closely with established technical teams to coordinate engineering work
Perform network studies with ETAP, Easypower;
Perform cable optimisation using Cymcap;
Perform grounding studies with CDEGS or WinIGS.
Assist with business development;
Participate and support various stakeholders in developing the capacity of the electrical team;
Supervise engineering resources, including technicians and drafters;
Coordination with relevant regulatory authorities and utilities;
Provide due diligence support for Advisory Services mandates;
Some travel to and from client sites and/or temporary secondment to client site may be required.
Electrical engineer with a power or high voltage background
Minimum of 5 years of experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrable experience working cooperatively and effectively with a variety of stakeholders
Pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to problem solving
