The Director of Treasury and Payment Transformation is a senior role within the Product and Client Solutions team that is critical to GTB’s success. The incumbent requires both deep understanding of GTBs’ businesses, strategy, risk appetite and clients, as well as excellent knowledge of industry changes that impact payment product and service offerings, considering both GTB Clients current needs and potential future offerings.

Job Description

The Director of Treasury and Payment Transformation role will be recognized as GTB’s Payment and Liquidity expert. Specific responsibilities of the role include:
  • Fulfil Lead GTB Business owner role in current active large-scale Transformational Payment initiative. Role to include.
  • Thorough and complete understanding of program, components and impact on GTB Clients
  • Maintenance including complete capture of, documentation and tracking of all Business requirements throughout entire Initiative
  • Active participation and/or oversight of other Product team member(s) in all program working groups impacting business
  • Ongoing evaluation of business impact and risk assessment throughout program including evolving program roadmap and timeline, scope and functionality decisions, PCR’s etc
  • Ownership of GTB Change Management evaluation and execution of changes
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with key program partners including Change Management, Technology, Operations etc., across teams in TDS and TD Enterprise
  • Creation of and maintaining internal business reporting and participation in Leadership reporting and program assessment
  • Acting as first point of contact on Program escalations and key decision evaluation
  • Lead or provide leadership and oversight over Product team members on Payment or Liquidity Initiatives impacting GTB Business to ensure business needs represented, risk assessed including end to end ownership over Business Change Management evaluation and execution.
  • Partner with other GTB Leads including Origination teams, Risk and Control and Head of Innovation to review potential service offerings with a focus on end to end processes and transaction execution. Role requires ability to formulate and assess end to end process flows and business architecture inclusive of Technology, Operations both existing and future consideration.
  • Participate in analysis to ensure on-going suitability of existing Payment and Liquidity product offerings as market conditions, business strategies and portfolio composition change. Includes making recommendations for GTB investment funding, including prioritization of asks based on benefit realization
  • Work closely with the larger Product team to provide GTB business Origination teams with regular updates on initiatives supported, facilitate open discussion including supporting Client meetings. The business is globally spread out and requires regular liaising with regional offices in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.
  • Establish and foster interaction with other TDS segments, namely, Payment Technology, Global Operations and Risk and Control teams. Specifically maintain dialogue pertaining to championing GTB client needs, Product strategy and alignment with new builds, regulatory changes, service updates etc.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with a wide range of market participants, including competitor/partner banks, consultants, research providers, industry forums and TDs’ vast internal network and resources.
  • Build strong relationships with TD leads on SWIFT, Payment Canada, BAFT other Payment Industry bodies to stay abreast of changes and ensure that GTB Business needs are represented.
  • Stay abreast of developments in markets, economy, industry, regulations, and risks affecting the Payment and Liquidity offerings for the business.
  • Represent GTB at Industry Forums, conferences and participate as a Payment and Liquidity expert to raise Personal and GTB profile.
  • Represent GTB in various committee and initiatives undertaken by TDS or TDBG.
  • Requirements

  • University Degree, MBA or equivalent preferred with over 10 years of relevant experience in Transaction Banking Market/Wholesale Banking
  • Experienced SWIFT Payment expert with strong knowledge of Canadian, US Payment Industry and working knowledge of other cross boarder payment options
  • Good working knowledge of treasury management concepts and principles as related to GTB products and services
  • Strong understanding of technology trends and a desire to work closely with Technology Teams to execute on GTB strategy and develop client centric Payment and Treasury offerings
  • Proven track record in Change Management and Client Improvement management
  • Client focused with ability to consult with Clients and GTB Business Partners on service preference and needs requirements
  • Successfully supported Business Leadership role in initiative with high impact/risk assessment
  • Possess comfort and enjoyment in fulfilling both strategic and tactical roles
  • Excellent skills in partner management, analyze and solve complex problems, multi-task, and manage tight timelines
  • Results oriented with ability to manage ambiguous or unclear situations
  • Proactive, positive attitude, and desire to learn
