This is an ideal time and an exciting opportunity to join the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) as we undergo significant change delivering on the government’s initiative to modernize liquor regulations and implement the provincial regulatory regime for non-medical cannabis retail outlets.
With staff in Victoria, Surrey, Vancouver and regional offices across the province, the Branch works to protect public safety and minimize the health and social harms of alcohol and non-medical cannabis by promoting safe establishments and communities, and enhances the public interest by enabling a vibrant industry.
The Branch issues licences in B.C. for making and selling liquor and for selling and marketing non-medical cannabis, supervises the service of liquor in licensed establishments and is responsible for issuing licences to 10,000+ licensees, including pubs, bars, lounges, stadiums, nightclubs and restaurants, private liquor stores, breweries, distilleries, wineries, UBrews/UVins, and private cannabis retail stores. In addition, the Branch regulates 25,000+ Special Event Permits for events like concerts and weddings each year.
The Communications team within the Corporate and Strategic Services division of the LCRB leads the development, implementation and management of the Branch’s internal and external communications strategies.
The Communications team is responsible for providing communications, writing expertise and support to the director and Branch executive including: internal and external strategic communications planning, stakeholder consultation and engagement, communications and change management advice, issues management and media relations, as well as the development and management of the branch intranet and website content.
The Senior Writer provides web and writing services for the LCRB to facilitate the accurate and timely communication of information to internal and external audiences through a wide variety of media.
